DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana) has been launched by the Ministry of Rural Development as a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission(NRLM). The curriculum framing and assessment support is through NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education & Training) or SSCs (Sector Skill Councils).

Objectives of the DDU-GKY Scheme:

  • Diversify the income of the rural poor families.
  • Cater to the career aspirations of the rural youth.

Target Beneficiaries:

Help individuals acquire the formal recognition of their qualification which has been acquired by them through informal means or during the course of their work in the organization.

Benefits to the Industry:

Focused on rural youth within the age group of 18-35 years from poor families who can be identified through:

  • MGNREGA worker households with a minimum of 15 days of completed work in the previous work.
  • Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) households.
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card or BPL PDS card holding households.
  • Self Help Group (SHG) households
  • NRLM-Self Help Group households
  • Special projects for special groups such as victims of trafficking, manual scavengers, trans-genders, rehabilitated bonded labour and other vulnerable groups.

Outcome of the DDU-GKY Scheme:

Work Readiness training programs ensure the performance of the candidate when they join the organization for work.
