On September 20, 2024, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji attended the event organised on the occasion of one year of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at Swawlambi Ground in Wardha, Maharashtra. The scheme aimed at supporting traditional artisans and craftsmen has achieved remarkable milestones since its inception. Over 20 lakh artisans have registered under the scheme, signifying its extensive reach and impact. Beneficiaries from various trades have seen substantial advantages from initiatives focusing on skill development, financial support and the modernisation of traditional crafts. During the event, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji interacted with Fishing Net Makers, gaining valuable insights into their specific challenges and needs.
Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the Skill India Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This new initiative aims to enhance skill development across various sectors. In conjunction with this, ASCI is pleased to announce the upskilling of 245 gardeners at Amrit Udyan under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY - Skill Development). This programme focuses on equipping the gardeners with advanced skills to better manage and maintain the garden's diverse and vibrant flora.
Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) and Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI), in partnership with the Directorate of Dairy Development, Government of Assam, organized a workshop focused on Animal Nutrition & Balanced Feeding. This initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of dairy farmers and professionals in Assam. The workshop covered critical topics such as the importance of balanced diets for dairy animals, efficient feed management, and the latest advancements in animal nutrition. By fostering expertise in these areas, the event sought to improve milk production, animal health, and overall dairy sector growth in the region.
The WorldSkills Competition is a prestigious global event that highlights vocational education and training by bringing together young professionals from around the world to compete in a variety of skill-based trades and professions. Organized by WorldSkills International, this biennial competition serves as a platform to showcase excellence in numerous fields.
In line with this global standard, ASCI organized the National competitions for the Floristry trade from May 15 to May 19. Held at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, this event saw participation from states including Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra, with seven candidates showcasing their skills in Floristry.
Following the national competition, ASCI initiated international level training for the finalists starting June 2024 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This training aims to prepare the top contenders for the global stage, ensuring they are well-equipped to represent India at the WorldSkills International event.
At the Annual Conference of Vice Chancellors of Agricultural Universities and Directors of ICAR Institutes, held on February 26-27, 2024, CEO-ASCI provided key insights into the agricultural sector's evolving dynamics and ASCI's role in advancing industry standards.
CEO-ASCI highlighted ASCI’s function as an industry-led initiative, integrating contributions from industry, government, academic and research institutions, and farmer groups. Core responsibilities include the development of qualifications and standards, occupational mapping, assessment and certification, and the training of trainers and assessors. Additionally, ASCI facilitates the PMKVY flagship scheme and promotes apprenticeship and employment opportunities within the sector.
In discussing the current state of the agriculture sector, CEO-ASCI emphasised its significant potential. Despite India’s leading position in global agricultural production and its vast arable land and diverse agro-climatic zones, there is a notable shift from traditional subsistence farming to a focus on profitability and diversification. This transition is crucial for unlocking new opportunities and achieving sector growth.
Agriculture accounts for 18.3% of India’s GDP and employs 45.5% of the workforce. The sector benefits from a demographic advantage with a high proportion of individuals under 25 years of age. To fully capitalise on this potential, skills development is essential. Special emphasis on enhancing the capabilities of the female workforce, which represents more than half of the agricultural labour force, could be transformative.
The conference provided a significant platform for discussing these issues and strategizing on how to leverage the sector's potential. The insights shared aim to drive forward agricultural growth and address critical challenges through targeted skill development and strategic initiatives.
On January 24, 2024, CSIR-Human Resource Development Centre (CSIR-HRDC) and Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) formalized a key collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement signifies a strategic partnership aimed at advancing skill development in the agricultural sector.
CSIR-HRDC, located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, is pivotal in implementing the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative Program, while ASCI focuses on enhancing agricultural skills across India.
The MoU establishes a framework for integrating CSIR-HRDC’s training programs with Qualication Packs developed by ASCI, in line with the National Skill Qualication Framework (NSQF). This alignment ensures that the training provided meets national standards and equips participants with the necessary skills for the agricultural industry. ASCI will manage the assessment and certification of trainees from CSIR laboratories, ensuring that evaluations adhere to NSQF criteria. This collaborative effort aims to provide robust and standardized certification that reflects the competencies gained through the training programs.
The 14 Foundation Day of Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) was celebrated with a grand ceremony at the university's veterinary auditorium. Major General Dr. Shrikant Sharma, SM, VSM, former Vice-Chancellor of LUVAS, served as the Chief Guest, while Dr. S. S. Arya, CEO, ASCI, was present as Special Guest.
In a discussion held on the sidelines of the event, Dr. S. S. Arya, CEO, ASCI and Dr. Vinod Verma, Vice-Chancellor of LUVAS, explored opportunities for the development and implementation of veterinary skill courses. The XVI Agricultural Science Congress, held at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) in Kochi, Kerala, focused on the theme "Transformation of Agri-Food Systems for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals." The event gathered agricultural scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore innovative strategies for improving agricultural practices and aligning them with global sustainability targets.
In his address, CEO-ASCI highlighted the essential role of technological innovation and policy reforms in advancing sustainable agriculture. He emphasised the adoption of environmentally friendly and economically viable farming practices, underscoring their importance for long-term planetary health and agricultural progress. Additionally, CEO-ASCI stressed the need for increased investment in research and development, enhancement of value chains, and targeted support for smallholder farmers to build more resilient and sustainable food systems.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, a Central Sector initiative, was launched on September 17, 2023, by the Hon'ble Prime Minister to offer comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools. This scheme covers 18 trades.
Under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched to support artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools, Agriculture Skill Council of India actively contributes to the objectives of PM Vishwakarma Scheme by promoting the Fish net making job role. This initiative, aimed at supporting artisans and craftspeople, focuses on enhancing the skills and livelihoods of those involved in Fish net making. By doing so, ASCI ensures that Fish net makers produce high-quality nets and improve their employability. This effort not only empowers traditional artisans but also supports the sustainable development of coastal communities, aligning with the broader objectives of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. The initiative not only empowers traditional artisans but also aligns with the broader goals of sustainable Fisheries management and rural development, positioning Fish net making as a viable and respected profession.
During the G20 and W20 events held at NDDB Anand from July 18-20, 2023, NDDB forged a MoU with ASCI. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Satender Arya, CEO-ASCI, and Shri Lalit Prasad Karan, Senior General Manager-NDDB, in the presence of Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman-NDDB. The objective is to enrich the knowledge base, identify skill gaps, formulate capacity-building initiatives, and deliver extensive training programs to enhance the skills of stakeholders operating within the Indian dairy sector.
ASCI has partnered with the Horticulture Training Institute (HTI) in Karnal by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a prestigious National Level Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills. The MoU was exchanged between ASCI’s CEO and Mr. Arjun Saini, Director General of the Department of Horticulture, in the esteemed presence of Shri Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana. This strategic collaboration aims to elevate the standards of horticulture skills and foster excellence within the sector.
The International Conference on Blended Learning Ecosystem for Higher Education in Agriculture was organized by Indian Council of Agricultural Research & jointly hosted by World Bank at NASC Complex, New Delhi from 21st – 23rd March 2023. It aimed to facilitate the knowledge sharing, collaboration & partnership to develop the State-of-the-Art blended learning ecosystem for higher agricultural education in India.
During the conference, CEO ASCI talked about ‘Accelerating Digital Development Through Effective Capacity Building & Change Management’ as a part of Panel Discussion & highlighted about the importance of the digitalization for building the sustainability in the blended learning ecosystem through diversification of online learning & teaching by integrating technology with agricultural education.
ASCI participated in the Regional Livestock & Poultry Show 2023, held from 15th to 17th February in Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam. The event provided a platform to showcase ASCI's role in the skill ecosystem and highlight opportunities for farmers, farm entrepreneurs, and rural youth. During the show, ASCI engaged with industry stakeholders to explore potential collaborations for developing skilled manpower and promoting partnerships within the skill ecosystem.
With the objective of preparing the Armed Forces Personnel for the second career post retirement, the upskilling programme has been organized by ASCI. The skill orientation of the Army Veterans is carried out in 3 job roles - Micro Irrigation Technician, Dairy Farmer & Organic Grower. The training programme is undertaken at 2 locations, namely Punjab Regiment Center in Ramgarh & Raiwala Cantonment Board, Dehradun.
During Oct-Dec 2022, ASCI has appointed 250 apprentices under National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). The candidates have started “On the Job Training” with agricultural establishments pertaining to Agri Input Sector in the job roles of Agriculture Field Officer & Agriculture Extension Service Provider & Post-Harvest Agri Value chain Management in the job role of Pack House Worker.
In its endeavor to provide skill certified workforce across the globe, ASCI has placed 2 candidates in Germany as Meat Processing Associate & 6 candidates in Dubai i.e. 4 candidates as Gardener & 2 candidates as Landscape Technician.
India CSR Summit is the biggest CSR event in India co-hosted by CSRBox & NGOBox. The forum brought together the CSR Foundations, non-profits, consulting firms, government agencies & social enterprises to discuss the entire ecosystem of CSR in India & collaborate to scale-up the activities in the development sectors. During the summit, CEO ASCI, as a part of the discussion panel, talked about “Investing in Agri-Value Chains through CSR, Creating the Multiplier Effect” highlighting the importance of CSR investments in strengthening the market integration by solving the problems & challenges existing in the agri value chain.
Agriculture SSC participated in the 15th edition of B2B trade fair on Agriculture & Food Technology by CII Agro Tech India from 4th – 7th November 2022. The event was organized at Chandigarh with the theme of “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security”. This 4 – day event included global exhibitions featuring 100+ exhibitors, 9 Conferences, 6 Kisan Goshthees, B2G & G2B meetings.
During CII Agro Tech India Conference 2022, CEO ASCI addressed the stakeholders about the importance of training farmers on proper farming techniques & various collaborative models that can be undertaken to work together for the benefit of all the stakeholders involved in agriculture.
ASCI participated in Rozgar Mela at Khamakhya Nagar Stadium in Dhenkanal, Odisha on 6th November 2022. The Rozgar Mela was a one-day event accompanied by other related activities including Career Counselling, Skill Exhibitions & Apprenticeship.
The event witnessed the participation from various PMKK, Apprenticeship undertaking organizations & several certified candidates under PMKVY and various skill development schemes.
Agriculture SSC has placed 30 candidates in various job roles through 5 employers during the career fair at Dhenkenal, Odisha.
The special edition of the WorldSkills Competition 2022 took place in Helsinki, Finland from 20-23 Oct 2022. One candidate on behalf of Agriculture SSC represented during the WorldSkills Competition 2022 in the Floristry category. The Floristry Skill category saw participation from 14 countries viz. France, Switzerland, China, etc.
ASCI, in coordination with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), has conducted an Upskilling training programme at Skill India, Mandir Marg, New Delhi for the employees in the Horticulture Department of the NDMC. The candidates are imparted training on Gardener Job role constituting short modules like Propagation, preparation, establishing, Maintenance of Garden etc. The convocation ceremony of the trained employees has been organized by ASCI at the School of Gardening, Purana Qila Road Nursery, New Delhi on 17 th September 2022. During the ceremony, a total of 32 candidates are awarded with certificates by Chief Guests - Dr. S. Chellaiah, Director, Horticulture, NDMC & Dr. V. K. Verma, Dy. Director, Horticulture, NDMC for the successful completion of the training.

The Bootcamp witnessed the interaction of Sector experts with the industrial organizations as well as the aspiring candidates coming from the agriculture & allied sector on Day 1 & Day 2 of the bootcamp focused on discussions on the need, importance, scope, underlying opportunities & benefits of Apprenticeship in agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy, Poultry & Fisheries.
ASCI has the objective of providing a skilled & certified workforce across the globe & has the vision to transform India into a preferred partner country to meet this objective. Keeping up with the same, ASCI has placed 3 skilled certified candidates in Germany in Food & Meat Processing job role through the international placements.
Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) represented at Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) in Bangalore in Karnataka, Bhubaneswar & Cuttack in Odisha & Barpeta in Assam. PMNAM is organized by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to bring together the apprentices & the establishments for the spot-on hiring of the potential apprentices and facilitate the candidates to have access to apprenticeship opportunities. During PMNAM, ASCI reached out to employers & candidates to create awareness about the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), Apprenticeships Act 1961 and various aspects of Apprenticeship in Agriculture & allied sectors.
Agriculture SSC raised awareness among the industry persons about the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) & Apprenticeship Program during the workshop organized by Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) at Moga, Punjab. During this 1-day workshop, the representatives from various industrial organizations were apprised of the Apprenticeship Act 1961, the benefits of the Apprenticeship, various aspects of Degree Apprenticeship and the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM).
Agriculture SSC & Directorate of Agriculture Engineering (DAGE), Govt. of Madhya Pradesh signed MoU in the presence of Hon’ble Agriculture Minister of Madhya Pradesh for establishing the Center of Excellence for Farm Mechanization Skills in India (CEFMSI). Basis the MoU, the CEFMSI will work in close collaboration with the government, industry, research and academia & experts in the Farm Mechanization sector to empower various stakeholders in the agricultural & farm mechanization value chain by undertaking training, advocacy & advisory services and carrying out the research on the evolution of the Farm Mechanization Sector for modulating the skill requirements from time to time.
Agriculture Skill Council of India organized Agri Skills Conclave 2022 with the theme Krishi Kaushal Se Atamanirbharta which revolved around the Indian Agriculture Skill ecosystem – Needs, Challenges & Future Developments. It witnessed the confluence of the industry, academia & government providing an opportunity to develop a set of recommendations to promote the new skilling, upskilling and training methodologies for the youth in the agriculture & allied sector. During the Conclave, ASCI took the opportunity to release the Farm Mechanization Sector Skill Gap Study, Career Guide - a Qualification Handbook for Agriculture Qualifications and Short-term Courses Directory developed by ASCI through the auspicious hands of the Secretary, MSDE.
Agriculture SSC & National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) signed an MoU on 21 June 2022. Basis the MoU, the training and capacity-building programmes would be taken up for various job roles pertaining to the Fisheries sector which would lead to enhanced incomes through enhanced skills.
Agricultural Skill Council of India has been recognized as an “Awarding Body” by the National Council of Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) following the agreement signed on 14 June 2021 in the presence of the Chairman, NCVET. As an Awarding Body, ASCI would strive to build up strong skill competence in various spheres of agriculture.
Under international placements, 1 Agriculture candidate has been successfully placed in the USA for the Agri-Crop Production segment.
Between April-June 2022, ASCI has received approval for the Model Curriculum in 5 job roles under the NAPS Scheme. These 5 approved Model Curricula pertain to the agricultural sub-sectors of Post-Harvest Supply Chain Management, Seed Industry & Production Horticulture which are witnessing a surge in the demand for the related job roles. The approved Model Curricula include the job roles such as Packhouse Worker, Agri Commodity Fumigation Operator, Seed Processing Worker, Tea Maker (Production) & Tea Factory Assistant.
The 11th National Summit by CSR Foundation was held on the 7th & 8th June 2022. The 2-day conference revolved around the “Role of CSR in Rural Development Sector”. During this conference, CEO ASCI talked about the vocational programmes which could be one of the tools to combat the issue of unemployment & role of CSR funds for skill development in agriculture, thereby catalysing nation-building.
ASCI represented at the “All India Cold Chain Seminar” in April 2022 at Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Many leading companies from the cold storage industry like Ahuja Sales, Arctic Refrigeration, Celcius Logistics Solution, etc. were present at the seminar. ASCI presented the Apprenticeship and NAPS program to all the stakeholders involved in the cold chain & cold storage sector. The interaction during the seminar helped in comprehending the demand for skilled labor in the Cold Storage Industry and how the industry could be benefitted through Industry Connect with ASCI.
ASCI participated in 2 days exhibition on the aquaculture sector held on 7 & 8 April 2022 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu during the India International Aquaculture Expo (IIAE) 2022. During the exhibition, ASCI highlighted the importance of the blue revolution in the sector, the benefits of skilling youth for the industries and the importance of using NSQF-aligned Qualification Packs in the fishery sector. It also underlined the skill progression in the Fishery and Aquaculture sub-sector as youth acquire specific skill sets during their career.
The India International Aquaculture Expo (IIAE) was held in Chennai on 6 April 2022. CEO ASCI talked about “Skilling and Apprenticeship in Fishery Sector: Untapped Potential” at the conference. During the course, he highlighted the youth engagement in apprenticeships within the aquaculture/fishery sector and the demand for skilled human resources abroad with specific skill set requirements. Many organizations from the aquaculture industry and various stakeholders from the sector have shown their presence as a part of this international level conference.
ASCI in association with Horticulture Training Institute (HTI), Karnal, Haryana organized a Job Fair from 24th March to 26th March 2022. It provided an opportunity for approximately 300-400 skilled certified candidates to participate in different Job roles related to Horticulture. In Rozgar Mela, 30 companies participated that recruited a total of 45 candidates for the Job roles including Gardening, Horticulture Supervisor, Organic Farmer, Orchard/ Plantation Worker & Interior Landscaper.
ASCI participated in Mumbai World Expo that took place from 4th March to 6th March 2022. The exhibition was based on Food, Beverages, Organic & Biotech segment. ASCI showcased its skilling ecosystems, Government programmes undertaken, Apprenticeship & NAPS program through presentations to organizations from many Agri & agri-allied sectors that included Horticulture, Medicinal Plants, etc. ASCI made the stakeholders acquainted with many avenues of future collaborations through Industry Connect, Associate Memberships & Apprenticeship Program.
ASCI participated in the 2-day Rozgar cum Apprenticeship Mela organized by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) at Kota in March. It provided the platform for employment to 18000 candidates from Kota & nearby districts through the participation of 150+ employers from 30 sectors. ASCI placed 25 candidates in two of the industry partners viz. Indo Farm Equipment Limited and East Man Private Limited. Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha graced the occasion with his presence as Chief Guest during the inauguration of the programme.
IndiaSkills Nationals, the country’s biggest skill competition, concluded on 10th Jan’2022 with more than 150 participants being felicitated by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. The closed-door competition, organised by National Skill Development Corporation under the guidance of MSDE, witnessed participation in 54 skills including 2 Agriculture Trades Floristry and Landscape Gardening.
Women-centric skill training programs were conducted with John Deere under CSR wherein more than 100 women participants were trained in the Tractor Mechanic Job role.
10 Agriculture candidates have been placed in USA out of which 4 sent under J1 Visa and 6 are awaiting Visa. These are the first ever Skill India US J1 Agriculture (Poultry segment) candidates. Between Jan - Jun’ 2021, ASCI has generated 324 apprenticeship contracts. Till date, 13 Model Curricula have been approved and uploaded on NAPS portal. There has been a surge in demand for appointing apprentice under different Agriculture trades like Agriculture Field Officer, Gardener and Pesticide and Fertilizer Applicator are in demand by agricultural industries and organizations.
ASCI and National Collateral Management Limited (NCML) signed an MoU on 1st Feb’ 2021. Basis the MoU, NCML has become Training Partner with ASCI and will collaborate on several aspects to cover, RPL, Short Term Training, Apprenticeship and Industry validations.

ASCI conducted a workshop on Revision & Rationalization of 10 QPs developed in the Poultry Sector at Bengaluru. The workshop saw active participation from the Central Poultry Development Organization (CPDO),various Industries and Academia. The experts brainstormed and gave their valuable inputs basis which the revision work would be initiated
ASCI has won the Best Sector Skill Council Award at the 5th ASSOCHAM Skills Summit held on 27th Nov'19 at New Delhi. The Award was instituted by the ASSOCHAM to acknowledge the Indian Sector Skill Councils who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the skills agenda in India - one of the most important challenges the country is facing today. The award was conferred at the Inaugural session of the Summit by Mr. R K Singh, Hon'ble Minister of state, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
This award is in recognition of Agriculture Skill Council efforts that have supported the development of Standards, facilitated flagship Skill development Programs, introduction of vocational courses at School, College and University level both in cities and in rural areas. Through its robust model and partnerships, Agriculture Sector Skill Council aims to bridge skills gaps across Agriculture sector and supplement the nation's economic growth rate flawlessly.
ASCI participated in Regional Workshop on “Youth as Torchbearers of Business Oriented Agriculture in South India” and presented the role of ASCI in Agri-preneurship and skilling youth in Agriculture. The workshop held at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University, Hyderabad.

ASCI interacted with organizations and local people and apprised them about initiatives taken in Agriculture & Allied segments at different locations and updated about opportunities to participate in skilling initiatives.
ASCI interacted with the Ghana Sector Skills Councils delegation to New Delhi and briefed them about the working and formation of Agriculture Skill Council of India. The Ghana Delegation were on a Study Tour to India to understand the TVET and the SSC System in India.
ASCI participated in the Roundtable discussion on ‘Strategic leadership of SSDMs and SSCs for Scale, Speed and Innovation for Future Skill Readiness’ at the National Summit on Bridging Skill Gaps in Industry 4.0 organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 13th Sep’19. The discussion revolved around the preparedness of SSCs for the implementation of future skills and the challenges foreseen.
ASCI attended the meeting called by Project Director of PBSSD, Mr Unice Ismail, IAS and chaired by Principal Secretary of PBSSD, Ms Roshni Sen, IAS to streamline and understand the progress and challenges of assessment and certification process for the Short Term Training being conducted under Utkarsh Bangla, suggestions have been made for improvisation. This year, nearly 2,500 candidates would be trained in Agriculture trade under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
Meeting was held with the State Agriculture & Veterinary Minister Mr. Tage Taki. The state would incorporate NSQF courses at pilot basis in one or two training centers and possibilities for conducting RPL in Agriculture courses in few clusters would be explored.
ASCI organized Southern Zone Annual Training Partners - Industry Meet 2019 on 01st Aug’19 at Bengaluru in alliance with Society for employment Generation and Enterprise Development in Andhra Pradesh (SEEDAP). Program Chief Guest was Dr. M R Dinesh, Director-Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, Dr. N K Dadlani, Former Director Horticulture, Govt. of India and Mr. Subhash Kiran, General Manager, SEEDAP. Discussion made on different skill development training opportunities in Agriculture Domain for Training Partners and Industry & ASCI would facilitate aspiring TPs to get on-board at Skill India portal.
ASCI initiated CSR project with Jnana Jyothi Financial and Credit Counseling Trust (JJFLCC Trust) to conduct Financial Literacy Training for the Farmers of North Kanara District, Karnataka on Paddy and Sugarcane Crops. JJFLCC Trust has conducted nearly 90 training programs and trained more than 2,900 farmers till date.
Agriculture SSC has created National and Asia Record by assessing 3,000 farmers in a single day on World Youth Skills Day on 15th Jul’19. The event was monitored and evaluated by a jury from India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records.
Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad, Haryana organized Placement Drive along with NSDC at Gurgaon and Karnal, Haryana. Agriculture SSC participated at both locations with industry Partner TAFE Ltd. and shortlisted candidates.
ASCI had a detailed discussion with the Manipur Mission Director Mr. Malemnganba Chenglei, IAS.Mission Director stressed upon the need of Industry alignment & aggregation for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Agriculture, Horticulture & sericulture. He suggested few job role which are more suitable for the state are Micro Irrigation Technician, Small Poultry Farmer, Green House operator, Mushroom Grower, Pack House Technician. He also agreed to include Mushroom Growers & Small Poultry Farmers job roles under current ongoing project for Person with disability(PWD) under state funded scheme.
Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development in Andhra Pradesh organized CxO meet on 7th Jun’19 at Vijayawada for building partnership with sector skill councils. Agriculture Skill Council of India participated and represented Agriculture Sector.
One-day workshop on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was organized at Guwahati on 29th May under the aegis of ASDM and FICCI. The workshop saw participation from various industry houses, Agri entrepreneurs and SSCs. ASCI was invited to share its view and way forward on NAPS.
To highlight the apprenticeship scheme and its key benefits, a workshop had been organized by National Skill Development Corporation along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), GIZ Germany on 15th May at Chandigarh, Punjab.
Agriculture SSC participated in workshop organised by Tripura Bamboo Mission. The workshop saw participation from State’s Forest officials, Nursery Owners, Nursery Growers, etc.
ASCI initiated a CSR Project in Uttara Kannada district to build the capacities of farmers with objectives to calculate profits of farming enterprises and to make farmers understand the implication of various best practices on their expenditures, incomes and profits. Such training will to contribute to a great extent the decision making capacity of the farmers and thus towards the adoption of good agriculture practices. Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Trust to take up this project for meaningful and effective results. The training module developed for Paddy and Sugarcane farmers along with skill enhancement through Activity Based Teaching will facilitate effective learning for the trainees.
ASCI conducted Rozgar Mela on 13th Mar'19 at BRM College of Education, Karnal Haryana in collaboration with Indian Society of Agribusiness Professionals. Major employers were Jain Irrigation, Chambal Fertilizers, Cristal Crop, L&T Food, Prabhat Seeds, Bayer, Khandar Agro Producer Co. Ltd., Field Fresh Food, Hari Motors, Pratap Agrotech, Janak Seeds, Newco Agri Genetics Pvt. Ltd and many more.
State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Telangana organized State level workshop in Skill Development in Agriculture & Allied Sectors on 29 Jan'19. The Program was chaired by Mr. Rahul Bojja, IAS, Commissioner & Director of Agriculture, Telangana along with Mrs. G Nareemani, Director SAMETI, Mrs. V Usha Rani, IAS, Director General MANAGE, Mr. D Raja Reddy, DOE of PJTSAU, Dr. S R Voleti, Director IIRR, Associate Regional Head ASCI. ASCI apprised about its role in Skill Development Training activities in India, Importance of NSQF, Skill Training Program Benefits to Industry, Farmers, Employees and Unemployed Youths of the Nation, etc.
ASCI organized 3 days Exposure visit & Training program for farmers of Karnataka on Farm Machineries in collaboration with ESCORTS Training and Development Centre Bengaluru from 21 to 23 Jan'19. This visit was organized to benefit the farmers by getting them exposure on various aspects of Farm Machines and mechanized farming in India, advantages of mechanized farming, brief display of tractors, its main parts and connected implements viz. seed drill, operations in field for different crops, safety precautions while using tractors, practical exposure, basics of repair and maintenance of tractors
Hon'ble Governor Mrs. Draupadi Murmu along with Mr. Raghubar Das, Hon'ble Chief Minister Jharkhand and Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Minister MSDE inaugurated the Global Skill Summit on 10 Jan'19. ASCI participated in exhibition and apprised on different job roles, employment opportunities (self as well as wage employment) after skill training and about skill ecosystem were highlighted to the farmers, entrepreneurs, students.
